Dr Prakash Ramamoorthy is a vascular surgeon practicing in Coimbatore since 2006. He did his schooling from Carmel garden school .He finished his MBBS from coimbatore medical college In 1989. He subsequently finished his M.S (General surgery)from Madras medical college in the year 1995 and M.Ch in vascular surgery 1998. He finished his Fellowship exams from Royal college of Edinburgh in the year 1996 (FRCSEd)
He then left for U.K. in 1998 and worked as Registrar in vascular surgery at various hospitals in UK and had extensive training and exposure in vascular surgery.
He returned to India in 2006 continued as Consultant Vascular surgeon at various hospitals in and around coimbatore. He is a visiting consultant vascular surgeon at KG hospitals, GKNM hospital, Sri Ramakrishna hospital in Coimbatore.
He has done more than 2000 operations for varicose veins, around 1500 operations for AV fistula to enable dialysis in renal failure patients, hundreds of bypass operations and large number of emergency surgeries. He has extensive experience in managing vascular problems and diabetic foot infections. He has extensive experience in management in management of venous disorders and has done many cases of Radiofrequency laser ablation , sclerotherapy as well as open operations. He has successfully treated thousands of cases of DVT(Deep vein thrombosis). He is also involved in treating lymphoedema associated with cancer and non cancer problems.
He is actively involved in creating awareness about vascular surgery and has given many lectures for medical students, doctors, Various IMA meetings, rotary clubs. He has given many interviews for TV, All India radio, suriyan FM to name a few.
He is regular faculty in the national and state level vascular conferences and has regularly presented papers in Vascular society meetings.
He is life member of vascular society of India , founder member of Venous association of India.His other interests include reading , Music and Art of living.
